no it's dialect 1 - there are no strange types.
the visigenic driver came with 5.6, there are no differences in datatypes
between 5.6 and dialect 1 version 6.01.
I've used it a lot in this combo with no problems

What dialect was the database created in?

Are you using new IB6 datatypes?

Don't forget that the Visigenic driver was never intended for IB6.
(Iirc, it wasn't intended for IB5, either - that came with the Intersolv
driver.)
