If you have the latest IBP CD, the Using Firebird manual has a whole
chapter devoted to gbak - which is the tool to use for splitting your
database file. In summary, you gbak your database and then restore it to a
list of two or more named files. There is a bit more to it than that so
read the doc.

If you don't have that doc, look up 'gbak' in the Operations Guide of the
IB 6 beta docs.
