what are you using to make this connection?
I assume you have TCP/IP installed
You can ping localhost?
you can telnet localhost 3050?

Subject: [ib-support] Can't find server 127.0.0.1

Hi

I am using VB6, Firedbird 1.0 and IBOleDB 1.1.
I am using Windows 98 second edition.
When I try to connect to the Firebird server
I get the following error message:

Unable to complete network request to host
"127.0.0.1".
Failed to locate host machine
The specified name was not found in the hosts
file or Domain Name services.

I did put the above IP address into the hosts file
in the Windows directory, but it still gives me the
same error. Can anyone help please?
