this sort of problem by using a datapump. IB_SQL will pump
data between servers, so as long as the new (Firebird) and
the older (Interbase) servers are running on different
machines, then you can 'step back in time' and get current
data onto an older system.
We used it to keep the Intebase sites up to date until they
all got switched <g>
