A major point is not 24 x 7 but 24 x 7 x 365 as I personally do not think IB
does well on this for large DB's unless you sweep them and never have users
logged on forever or ghost connections. Personally for intense usage I
always like to have a few hours scheduled down time per month.
We have used replication to shift from one server to another, this requires
a lot of constraints and designs though.
Maybe you should drop in your requirement and then we can pipe up with pros
and cons.
