Yes, Firebird is free, free as the birds! Okay -- free from cost,
but you do need to examine the license to ensure that you comply with
the minimal requirements, especially if you are modifying the source
code yourself (in your case it sounds like you are just shipping the
server with your app). You can find the license file in your server
installation directory.
