Subject Re: [ib-support] dbExpress Driver
Author Thomas Miller
For now. What about in the future. I am trying to decide on whether to
support Firebird or Interbase
at all. The only real way to connect to Firebird is through one of the
IBX or IBObjects, which means
I would have to have one version for Firebird and another version for
Oracle, MS SQL, IBM DB2, etc.
etc. using dbExpress.

I think the achillies heel of Firebird is support for database access
through JDBC, ODBC, OLE DB, and
dbExpress. Once these are in place, Firebird's exceptance will grow
rapidly (vs being a niche player).

The people who have been working on FB have done a great job getting rid
of many of the annoying
little "features" in IB. Now we need to be able to get to this great
database with the programmers prefferred
client development environment.

By the way, third party developers, I would be willing to *pay* for a FB
specific dbExpress driver!!!!
