The error is an OS one, indicating that you are logged in as a user who has neither ownerships nor group access rights . That said, I couldn't reproduce the error with gsec, although I could with ISQL.

BTW, I recommend that you upgrade to Firebird 1.0 for the server. It won't solve this problem, but it will forestall others. I'd also recommend that you match the client libraries to the server if possible. That can be another source of problems, as no-one does QA of mismatched server/client combos.
