I fully agree with the good news part. To that I can add that I've
been usoing their products in both D5 and D6 with NO problems. (I
cannot comment on D3)
Yuri (their support guy) is very responsive even during the trial
period (which btw is not time nor functionality limited, there's just
a nagging screen whenever one connects). Normally you'll get an answer
the next day, except during week-ends.
I asked them last week if they were planning to support Firebird when
(if?) it diverges from IB and their answer was yes. and they should
announce it pretty soon.
Same question regarding Kylix they said Yes, after version 3 due April-May
I have used it against IB, FB, Mssql, Sybase and Oracle and apart from
the somewhat inevitable non standard SQl syntax glitches one can
expect with so many different vendors not having a clue of what the
word 'STANDARD' could ever mean.
They keep adding new db backed support and features. Their objects are
truly compatible with Delphi's hierarchy. I had to change for a demo
last week an old (D4 ported to D5) BDE based application using stored
procedures and queries, and the only modification I had to make was to
replace the TDatabase with their TDSDatabase, change the
connection/paramter handling code (5 min job) and off I went for the demo!
Added benefit, I only have professional version of Delphi, and
SqlDirect gives me access to 'high powered' (read bloody expensive)
backends
