You should have a very special version of IB6, then, because I tried a
script in exactly the same version than you (6.0.0.627) and got exactly the
same error than with FB. The bug happens only if you have CASCADE
declarations. Borland's flawed implementation of cascade RI has three
problems:
- this one;
- relies on indices like any IB's RI (makes indices mandatory in FKs);
- database corruption.

The strange INDEX IN USE msg in this specific case has been there since v5,
it wasn't introduced by IB6 nor Firebird.
