When i tried also to connect through internet to an FB server on Win2K Pro
Box,
the engine was broken down... and wasn't possible in any way to restart FB
except
than REstarting the computer!!!
I tried every version of FB and also B 6.01 and i had the same problem.
At the end i discovered that the problem was because of the use of
interbase event and lowspeed connection. I removed them and afterwards
everything is ok.
As a conclusion: Do you use IB events? if yes, try remove them temporarily
and look what happens
