Connect using network specification (TCP/IP or whatever), dont try to
connect using local server specs.

eg: localhost:D:\path\database.gdb

Perhaps your posting may explain how the problem could be resolved for
Win2K in the engine/client, but I am not sure that it is worth it.
The above works for me in WinNT TSE and Win2K.
