I have downloaded the FireBird client & server version 1 and installed it. My interest is that I will be receiving an application to system test which includes a Firebird database. I would like to setup a test database in order to familiarise myself and my test team with the product. My main problem is that I don't have a test system to play with and don't know how to go about creating one.

I have a package called InfoMaker which we were going to use to query the database when it was going to be Sybase and I need to know whether this will be of any use with FireBird or are there any other more suitable database tools available?

I have read the release notes but they didn't help much.

I have tried downloading the Interbase manuals but it complained about a username & password.

Many thanks

Well - here is a good place. But we need to know what you are stuck on.

What did you download? (The client on its own doesn't do anything)

Have you installed anything?

Have you read the release notes?

Have you been the Documentation page at firebirdsql.org and picked up the
beta InterBase 6 manuals?

Do you have an existing database to play with?

What do you want to do with Firebird? Write application programs? Recycle
existing programs? ?????

regards,
Helen
