Hi Ralf,
I too have seen this problem when connecting via Interclient 1.6.
I haven't had time to track it down but I plan to investigate it
further as soon as possible.

I tried swapping one of our servlet based apps to run on Firebird 1
(Mandrake 8.1) (its currently running on RC2) but got the same
error.

I'll report back when I've investigated it more.
