Just to be clear, the only part of IBO you need to do BDE replacement is the
TDataset module and it contains 6 components also. All of which work (in
interface) virtually identical to the BDE, minus the bugs and quirks.

This begs the question, why put yourself through the torture of developing
an application for oodles of different backends when you can just produce an
application with its own database, Firebird. In which case, use a more
direct, efficient and feature utilizing solution to interact with it. I pity
all those who have to work with the other databases...
