Great! we'll try and help you out as much as possible.

Under WinNT/2000 you need:

- a Microsoft C++ compiler (it's a loonngg story)

- a copy of the Firebird source tarball (the link is on the Developers
Corner page on the web site)

- WinCVS (for CVS code updates and committ access)

- and a couple of utilities; make, touch ... (don't recall the complete
list of hand)

- patience (the code is...)

that can't be fixed with Firebird.
