There are a lot of things that should be included in the Firebird v1.0
release. Good/great ideas we have an abundance of, people able/willing
to do the work...

Ah, now there's the rub!

Until more of the 10's of thousands of people who have downloaded
Firebird are willing "to step up and invest the time to make it happen",
sacrifices will have to be made.

Most of the projects efforts, to date, have been is fixing bugs/bad
results/server crashes and just getting the d**m source to compile
(without needing a Phd from Carnegie Melon).
