I'm not sure why the icons do not appear in your Start menu but I can tell
you why you can't see the icon in the System Tray. FB will by default be
running as an NT Service on WinXP, Win2K and WinNT and not as a background
application. You can still start and stop FB by starting and stopping the
service. In Win2K you can access the services in the "Administrative Tools"
section of the Control Panel.

Subject: [ib-support] firebird on windows

Hi all,

I'm planning moving from IB6 to Firebird, the idea is install it in a Linux
machine, but for testing I downloaded RC2 for windows (I'm using Windows
XP). The point is, there is no icon in de system tray that indicates that FB
is runing (as it was in IB6), although FB is running well. Is this as it has
to work?

Also when I make the installation, the group folder in the Start menu only
contains an icon to uninstall FB... where is the icon to start the server?
(also with the option to start it manually or automatic at windows start)

Jordi
