Did you check if port 3050 is open? Is just what you need (and a valid username/password).
(Try with telnet, for example).

How do I connect to IB 6 on my ISP's server? He has not used IB before but
has it installed. I can't access it just by using the IP address like I do
my own. Maybe he doesn't have rights setup correctly for IB through his
