Jon, it's not about experience, showing who is better or more powerful, etc.
In fact, I could only blame Helen for not being able to guess in a crystal
ball what's the cause of your problem if you don't provide details.

What's the definition of the field that you are trying to insert into? Or
the definition of the table if you don't know which field fails?
What's the data that you are trying to insert in that field or that table?
What's the command that fails?
Are you using a UDF as to be able to apply the

to your case or not? You say you're using a simple insert. If this is true,
then forget that article, it has nothing to do with it. And for my life, I
can't make a sense of such article, too.
Does the problem happen in your trigger that inserts in some table?

If you read your own post, you will realize there's no much to do about it.
