Martijn, it's not Russian, it's Olegish :) Russian programmer's
slang generously spiced with jokes.

As far as I know (I don't approve Oleg Ivanov's (nick LOA) and
Alexey Karyakin's separatism and don't use Win servers) it's improved
with some own ideas and ASM implementation instead C Win builds. They
watch changes in FB main tree and combine them into own code when them
does'nt conflict with their ideas. Some new indexes on system tables
which significantly improve perfomance, experiments with data
compression and threads control, XNET reanimation, access to gdb via
only one file handle for Super. New ODS was tried but temporary rolled
back due to compatibility with FB. Seems index tree was'nt changed,
pages management bringed to use balanced b-tree. Perhaps I missed
something, I did'nt tried it in practice, just participated in
discussions about it and mainly of "political" kind as opponent of
separatism, unfortunately without success, there are some reasons for
it.

Classic is in beta state, but I know some people use it. Can't help
you on this subject. They have their own newsgroup
news://netcom.kharkov.ua/fibplus-devel.rus , if you are interested,
try ask questions there in English, can't say people there speak
English fluently, but are not fully ignorant in it.
