Hi
it seems to me the fate (doom) of Interbase/ Firebird that it will be
the best kept secret in dbms market until it is gone. It has the nature
of phantom
it appears occasionally brings something really good (after V4) to the
one who has it in hands.
It seems to me far from reality (sorry Ann)
to think that it cd be a competitor of Oracle or MSSQLV7 - even in
smaller companies like ours
(330 people, about 80 users).
Therefore FB and IB market share it is to small. And inspite growing
this "IB flower" is fading...
So the first group of interest are poeple working with Postgres and
Mysql / Msql ...
MS acess and other small footprint DBMS - this is a huge group. They cd
be easily convienced
to use a professional RDBMS under open source -
Like samba , apache and of course linux...
This is what FB shd concentrate in "marketing". Why is FB not a part
of Linux install packages like apache ?
Where are the alliances with other (web-) development companies and
products : apache, php, zope far most Macromedia / ColdFusion, etc ...
just my 0.05 Euro to that
yours
