I do understand why you say MySQL is not a competitor to FB,
but why PostgreSQL?

Concerning many features (especially features MySQL doesn't have, e. g.
transactions), it is quite similar to Firebird.

BTW, there was a quite good article about Open Source RDBMSs in a German
technical magazine (of course FB was missing) where MySQL and
PGSQL were compared.

If you want me to, I'll try to find this article and I could contact
you privately too see if you could use it.
