I'm prompted to question why they are using IB 5.5. That was a rogue
release that was completely replaced by 5.6. For a long time, Borland had
5.6 available as a free download for registered owners of 5.5 and, AFAIK,
it is still available from Borland Sales, free to reg. users, except for a
media charge.

Some problems relating to local connections were solved by reverting to the
use of the IB 5.1 client library with 5.5; but I couldn't say whether this
would fix your problems.
