The original question still remains. I'm not using the BDE. Sweep is 0 so
"shouldn't" be kicking in. No errors in the error log. No sort on the
data. Just a straight select *. The file is created. Validation returns
no errors. Why isn't the database closing? Any ideas?

My only thought is that the Sweep IS kicking in. I can't think of anything
else that would cause this.
