Well, but if the two can have the same syntax for the same job, wouldn't ease connectivity components job for supporting both? And, wouldn't make easier a Interbase to Firebird conversion?
(and, I want to add, I think that what Firebird really needs is a DbExpress driver for Delphi and Kylix).
So I do hope that unecessary differences will be avoided.
