I use Java mainly because I develop on Linux and deploy on who know's
what, but mostly flavors of Linux.

I use Forte for Java soon to be Sun One Studio or something, the
Community Edition. One day when EJB are on the to do list I will upgrade
and use the Enterprise Edition.

Forte is based on Netbeans IDE core, so if you do not like Sun Forte or
Sun One Studio, then just go look for and get the Netbeans IDE.

I have also heard good things about Eclipse and JBuilder from Borland. I
have briefly looked at both, but neither motivated me to switch from
Forte.
