Pablo,

I put their service to test.

In my office I have no ADSL yet, but I have 2 phone lines.

I connected to my ISP from 2 PCs.

From PC 1 - where Firebird is running - I connected to dyndns.org,
signed for their "Dynamic DNS" service and I chose the hostname

irel.homeunix.net

It was automatically assigned to the IP of the current connection,
which was 151.24.144.18 .

From PC 2, I run my beloved WISQL, wrote "irel.homeunix.net" in
the "server" box and "c:\test\test.gdb" in the "database" box.
Wrote username and password and ... I got an error message! :

"unable do complete network request to host irel.homeunix.ne"

I tried the connection again with "151.24.144.18" in the "server" box
and IT WORKED.

I was almost to conclude that the "Dynamic DNS" service from
www.dyndns.org was not working.

Then I noticed that in the error message, the DNS

irel.homeunix.net

was truncated to

irel.homeunix.ne

Was WISQL truncating the hostname ?

I went back to the www.dyndns.org site and chose a shorter hostname.

That did the trick.

Hey, it is just FUN!

Thanks a lot.
