the
3rd Generation Database manifesto...
<<Stonebraker, M. , L.A. Rowe, B. Lindsay, J. Gray, M. Carey, M.L.
Brodie, P. Bernstein, and D. Beech, "Third-Generation Data Base System
Manifesto," ACM SIGMOD Record 19, 3, September 1990>>
I don't know whether there are publicly available copies on the web, but I
remember reading at the time that it came out....
It came out after Stonebraker had created Postgres.....
In it he defines the fundamantals of what he believed would be the "next"
generation of relational database technology....
Strangely enough many of the concepts he outlines were already in
InterBase..
If anybody finds a soft copy let me know. Its been a while since I read
it,
and it would be nice to post a link to it on IBPhoenix.

Paul
