on Helen,
yes i tried IBX, (backup and restore, not the install-feature) and they works well with Firebird at this moment ..
The Install i only tested with IB6 ..
But i have to think further ahaed in the future, if i will be serious ...
If i make such a decision (alter my fundumental database) i have to think
on many things ... and if the author of IBX says: i don't support Firebird,
i forget IBX in this moment ...
unfortunately i am not confirm in programming with the API services ...
at first i have to understand all the API-mechanism, structures and so on ....,
and this takes to much time in my situation in this moment...
of course, before the API services and IBX exists, we made such things ...
now i have a very good graphical interface (part of the software design) and i don't
want give it up, only i am not possible to use the API...
this is all what i want: start backup/restore, with the options, and watch the process
and progress in the delphi-program...
The IBXInstall feature i can replace with my own ..
only a tool, but a good one ...
IBO: its really nice, i changed a half hour before a big module from BDE and IB -> IBO.
-and now its works again!!
i had only few problems:
some statemants as: q_anp.requestlive:= false and so on ....
todo: delete
and the: <Select new_id from storedprocedure> didn't work in a normal IBOquery,
todo: i had to replace it with the IB_Storedproc - component
IBO seems to be a very good choice, thanks

>The admin tools assume that you know SQL. To build a GUI that makes the metadata transparent to an absolute beginner would require a major development project. The developers of the tools available (there are a lot and most of them are good-to-excellent) focus on the needs of developers doing production work and assume their users understand what they are doing.okay, the admintool, from what i dream, doesn't declare SQL-language, its
only a tool, but a good one ...
