Ok.. I was thinking of the unnecessary(?) growth of the database. wouldn't
it make the database about 100mb larger?

character. You must have had a reason to make it character, yes?

At first it seemed easy to store all the numeric and nonnumeric values in
the same field. Maybe I would make the program write the numeric values to
a field, and the nonnumeric ones to an other in the same row. Than
statistical work would be easier.
