The functions in ib_udf.dll are documented in the Language Reference, Chapter 5. The built-in functions are in Chapter 2, the section "Function List". Look in the Firebird 1 release notes for new functions in Firebird.

The new FBUDF.dll function library for Firebird, written by Claudio Valderrama with funding by Craig Leonardi, contains several *nvl functions. Documentation is in the FB 1 release notes. I don't know whether the Linux version of this library is available yet, though.
