I'd try this with ISQL - it is not perfect, but at least it works
consistently. It may be that the client tool you are using has a problem with
Firebird. IBConsole is certainly not built to work with Firebird. If it does,
that is a bonus.

If the problem continues with ISQL you may want to remove the config for the
second network card. Last time I tried setting up a second network card I had
so many problems that I didn't have time to play with Firebird.

BTW, can you connect remotely to a database on this new box, or is the problem
just with local connections?
