It may be that imgr is holding the terminal, there is a key
combination that will release it, but I haven't used it in a long
time, because there is another option that will run a command, and
release the terminal right away, try this:
imgr -start -forever &
Most people set it up so that it starts at boot time, by adding a
SysVInit option for Interbase. This basically entails adding a
script to /etc/rc.d/init.d to start and stop interbase at the proper
points in the startup/run/shutdown cycle of the computer. The .rpm
versions include the script, you might also find sample scripts on
some of the interbase centric sites, like ibphoenix.com.
