Hi, Robert. Don't forget about time zones. :)
For essence - I use some "hole-filler" for one zone of ID's in
organizations table. We register our filials in this zone, and, as
long as they don't breed as rabbits and dye like moles, there no much
workaround around it. :) But I can't admit it as solution for general
table, where inserts from many users are often. I think the best is
Martijn's one.
