Golden rule to remember - As soon as you suspect you have a corrupt database
o shut down the ibserver process,
o make a physical copy of the file(s)
o Try and fix the copy of database following the instructions
in the above doc.
That way, if you mess things up more you still have the original.
Two things that in general cause problems:
o Forced Writes off and no UPS to guarantee the power supply.
o Database size exceeding 4Gb. on NT or 2Gb on Linux.
The latter may have bitten you in this case.
