I am currently using the previous IB6.01 'in production' and find it
considerably more stable than IB5.6. But our main problem was breaks in
network connections leaving open connections on 5.6 which can only then
be cleared by stopping and starting the server. Not had to do that for
some time on any system, and with IBObjects talking to it there has been
no unexplained growth problems this year.

Firebird is on the testbed and giving the same results but we will wait
for a 'release 1' before looking to switch.
