I wouldn't say that is true on this list.

Ask away. That is what the list is for. Reasons for ignoral are complex, but
usually because

either no-one had the time to answer
or no-one knew the answer
or too many questions were asked in one posting.

Best way to get answers is to post a single clear question backed up with
sufficient detail. Two questions=two separate messages (unless they are heavily
inter-related). Breaking things up into nice paragraphs helps, too. Along with a
good title and a clear summary of the problem.

In this case you have done things exactly right - good clear question with a
script that was easily testable. You got answers. Perhaps we haven't solved the
problem yet, but keep going.
