Simulated test of 100 clients on 10 workstations with a 80GB Database
running on a Dual Xeon Box with RAID5 and plenty of harddisks and Win2k/FB
0.94 (its some months ago).
Response time for queries was typically under 1 second (even for joins)
provided the plans were ok and the result-sets not too large.
OLTP was not significantly slower than MSSQL on the same box and was
drastically faster for less connections (5 users).
100+ users on IB/FB will give you quite some headaches if you don't design
the app/db well.
Take care of the MGA and a non advancing OAT. Keep transactions short and
have the OAT advancing and FB will run smoothly even under heavy load.
