If it´s trully that is a parse error, I think that when this apps are
seperating the tokens to reserved word as 'select', the code in this apps
aren´t working very well, once that 'select*' is not reporting an error.

If not is a parse error and the syntax is invalid then could be a bug in
Firebird.
