is there some way around it that doesn't involve installing a new server? I
could just be a meathead, but I don't recall the download of IB RC1 from
Sourceforge having the Win32 install script mentioned in the release notes.
I'm using this version since its the only one I could get working with
interclient/interserver, and I'd rather not jinx myself if there is some
other way around it. Letting sleeping dogs lie and such.

Superstition in programming? Never! :)

If I do have to dump it, I'll find a way. Apologies for the dual mail
thing.
