I think this is something that has been wrong a LONG time.
Back in the days of dBase there was a flush to disk, but
that never worked. The programmers of Codebase worked out
how to ensure that the on disk copy was flushed, and I can
'pull the plug' on my older systems with little in the way
of data loss, while the dbase version lost big time. On
switching to Interbase we used ForceWrite, or very good
power arrangements including battery PSU, but most systems
are small enough for the delays due to ForceWrite not to be
a problem.

Interbase is not the only think to be messed up by pulling
the plug - W2k can need a reinstall!
