Firebird is free, even if you want the IBPhoenix CD. :) When you buy the CD you are paying for the convenience of having software, docs, support and third-party evaluation and free software all on one disk - it's not in any way a registration fee. Firebird is even STILL free if you buy a support contract from IBP, too.
