Thanks Christian, that may explain the problem then!
I can't switch to Firebird (due to lack of JDBC support), but I've heard that there is an IBAffinity freeware program out there.
I'll give it a try then post my results... I thought SuperServer was a different download! :-)

you said you are using IB 6 - then your version
must have SuperServer architecture.
The last version of IB for Windows using Classic architecture
was 4.0 or 4.1 - I don't remember.
So your server process will be ping-ponged between the two CPUs
by the task manager - and suffer from performance problems.
So IMHO, the CPU affinity patch in Firebird could really help.
