Ed,
At the moment, Firebird has the most bugs fixes then any version of
Interbase.
After that, both the Interbase open edition and 'certified' version are
exactly the same code base, so should both run with the same stability.
The only other version which I would recommend even considering is IB
5.6, but that is a closed source product which must be purchased from
Borland.
If you're looking for an install for AIX, then you're only option is
Firebird -- there is a version available.
