Yes, and the canonical hostname, and localhost, and 127.0.0.1, ... makes no difference at all.

That's what I thought at first, but then: why is connecting with isql and other clients possible, both from the server itself (embedded as well as TCP/IP to localhost) *and* inbound from trusted remote servers?

Thanks, good suggestion. The packets just never arrive at port 3050 when I try to connect from the script (or any local PHP-script, for that matter).

As soon as I make a connection from isql I see them flying by like crazy on the loopback interface.
