If you look on how extensions for hhvm are written you will see that we need a driver written in c++ or pure php from scratch. That is not an easy task . But if you sponsor i may say that it can be done .

side developments. HHVM is not available on my SUSE distributions, and
the people trying to port it gave up, so getting the areas that HHVM are
not willing to include is even more difficult :(
We have much the same problem with the new phpng engine which also does
not yet support many of the databases available on PHP5.x but should at
least be more compatible with the current PHP code.
The main problem here is that we have working systems and if you run
eaccelerator with an older version of PHP then performance is much
improved, so why waste time continually trying to play catchup with what
is very much a moving target.
