Thanks Lester you are a saviour. I have been using Ubuntu server for the past 3 months and have kind of lost my way with Windows setup a bit. Anyway, I had forgotten to include the line "extension=php_interbase.dll" in php.ini. It is still not working but it will (I hope) after an hour or so because this server doesn't accept / reflect changes immediately. The administrator told me that that is how it works. I don't understand and never bothered to ask why as I'm just a developer.
Thanks once again.
Sakhi
