Never be an ideal world, the IT world. Important is the time spent
between bug recognition and patch build. For firebird, often it's less
then a week, if not a day or two.

Ah, I've missed this information.
Anyway, a deprecated PHP 5.3 VC6 for firebird 2.1 will be available in
our (php-firebird) files repository, if someone likes to take the risk.
