The documentation is somewhat out of date. Many fixes have been added to
ADOdb in the last year, and I use it for all my PHP apps. Take a look at
tikipro ( http://www.tikipro.org ), the latest builds support Firebird
from the box, and offer a tidy framework on which to build.

One comment I would make is that PHP5 has better Interbase/Firebird
support over PHP4, not specific to ADOdb, but it did throw up problems
in PHP4 which have been fixed in PHP5.
